{Pizzeria Ristorante Roma}
Mmmm… pizza… are there any words for pizza? Let me think… let me think… it’s delicious… although that would be an understatement. Very difficult to screw up… unless of course you are me… then ‘screw up’ becomes a part of your everyday vocabulary. Last night we ate dinner at a nearby pizzeria and what else is there to order other than pizza? Hold your breath… I’ll answer this question precisely four photos down. In Germany… pizzas are usually served as individual portions… which means one pizza pie per person. Finally… an excuse to eat an entire pie on my own without eliciting looks of disgust over my gluttonous lifestyle. To be honest… the pizzas seem to be much healthier in Germany vs. the pizzas in America. The crispy thin crust is non-greasy… actually… I ate the entire pie without an ounce of grease on my fingers… unheard of in America… and there is no oozing of cheese. Mostly it is a tomato sauce with toppings… and maybe just a tiny bit of cheese for flavor. The pizza photo above is my order…. and it came topped with artichoke hearts… onions… bell peppers… mushrooms and spinach. It was delicious… but I was a bit confused as to why the ingredients were placed into sections rather than mixed evenly throughout the pie. That was a bit odd and probably the one thing I would change… otherwise it was perfect! Mom ordered a pizza pie with ham… tuna… mushrooms… cheese & olives. Again… enough with the sectioning of ingredients! When the menu says the pizza has olives… should it not have the olives as a topping rather than as a garnish? Maybe they should change the chef. It’s such a minor issue because the pizzas really are delicious… but it is such an easy fix. Look at my dad’s hawaiian pizza… all the pineapple is on one side of the pizza… and I am pretty sure one slice is ALL pineapple and no ham. Lana ordered a salami pizza in a mickey mouse shape. Would have been fine had they not cut straight down mickey’s head. But Lana seemed pleased… bless her heart… and that is all that matters Back to the question… what else is there to order other than pizza at a pizzeria? PASTA! I had no idea Marilyn & Guido were ordering pasta… but look how delicious they are! Above is Marilyn’s penne pasta with a cream sauce and below is Guido’s pasta trio with ravioli… penne… and what looks to be a type of tortellini. Wish my stay in Germany were longer so I’d be able to go back & try some of that delicious pasta! But I leave for London in a few short days… and I am positive the food will be just as delicious there Don't miss out on any of the action! Follow me on Twitter and Facebook for FREE weekly updates!
