6 more weeks, or so
It's Groundhog Day today. I remember Groundhog Day from way back when I was a kid. Everyone would ask if Puxsatawney Phil saw his shadow or not. Back then there was only 1 groundhog who could pedict the future. And he lived in Pennsylvania. I think it's the same guy who is photographed with him every year! That guy must be getting really old! Same outfit! From 18-whenever! It's amazing that one groundhog could predict the weather for the entire country!
These days I think every town has their own weatherhog! After all these years of eager anticipation awaiting word from whatever groundhog was being forced out of his hole and hibernation to appear or disappear and declare the weather for the next 6 weeks. I can never remember if the predictions were accurate or not! It seems I (and probably everyone else) forgot about it by the next day. Sunday was weigh in day. +1. total loss for January 1 pound. To say I am pleased would be like saying I'm happy to have 6 more weeks of winter! This very meager weight loss equates to 1 week of controlled, portioned eating. 1 week out of 4. What happened the other 3 weeks? Let's go to the archives. Exercise was good. That is something that has become a habit. I have too many voices running around in my head to NOT exercise. (issues! I know!) So excercise was not the issue in January. One good reason to write down every morsel that goes into your piehole is so you can look over it and see where you had successes and failures or where you could improve. I did pretty good here. Pretty good with the writing down of the food that was consumed. Pretty good, not stellar. I know there were a few things that did not get written down because I was too "lazy" to write it down and then forgot about it or just didn't even think about it while I stuffed it into my piehole. Bad. Very bad. Every calorie counts. Not writing it down doesn't make it go away. Pretty good ain't gonna cut it. And I was using too many points each day as it was. I used all my daily points and dipped into the bonus points everyday and even the activity points! Bad. Very bad. There are plenty of daily points. Plenty. There is no reason to use bonus points on a daily basis. But what was really the biggest mistake I made in January was being cocky. I was foolish enough to think I did not need to weigh and measure the food I was eating! I mean pfftt! I know what a cup of something looks like! I know how a serving of meat should be as big as the palm of my hand! Come on! I don't have to weigh and measure everything! Foolish, foolish woman! And see what the results were! The end of January brought with it serious thought about purchasing a food scale and using it. I do have a food scale but it is hard to use so that means it is not used. the bathroom scale wasn't cutting it Yikes! I was very surprised to see that I was probably eating twice the amount of food each day that I should have been! Very surprised! Very humbled! After all these years, this old girl can still learn some new tricks! Now, I am heading into February with a new attitude. Weigh it, measure it, count it and write it down! I must take control of myself and monitor myself. Like a hawk. So there won't be 6 more weeks of so-so weight loss over here! related searches : More
