A presidential Burger kicks off our anniversary celebration

By CIAO-CHOW (Visit website)

Our 9th wedding anniversary is approaching. July 1st, to be precise. As always we are having a hard time in deciding what to do because we do not like to spend tons of money on food. So fancy restaurants do not excite us and their prices even less! So we have made two decisions:

1) To save money for a great vacation in the fall
2) To Celebrate this upcoming anniversary by creating a list of 9 things we would like to do with each other.

FIRST ON THE LIST: Go to Ray's Hell Burger, Arlington VA!
Guess who eats here all the time?
So we had to go.
Apart from the presidential customers, this place has been raved about a lot in the area because the of the burgers. They use premium beef to make the patties and you have the choice of having your burger....
Grilled
Au Poivre (meaning in a peppercorn crust)
blackened (with a Cajun seasoning)
Diablo (with a special and spicy Chipotle blend)

For $6.99 you can make your burger. They have a large selection of specialty cheeses too!
For $7.99-$8.99 you can choose one of the menu burgers.

DO YOU WANT TO SEE MINE?

The New Jack Zing

Au Poivre burger patty with pepper jack cheese and lettuce, tomato with a topper made of caramelized onions, jalapenos in a soft bun.
I removed the bun alltogether because it was just too much bread and I did not want to fill on bread. I am a meat lover so my tummy was ready for the juicy patty...no bread!
The place was pretty packed but the service is fairly fast so we had no problem finding a table. Plus, you can always order for carry out....and the best part is NO TIPS! However, it is CASH ONLY.
At the end of the meal, my mouth was on fire, Eric's tummy was full and we were happy to have experienced what the President experiences! So now we can cross of the list: eating at Ray's Hell Burger!

As for the pre-burger day...I spent it at home, doing some work, getting my things organized and preparing for the weekend. I found myself with some time at hand and decided to improvise a recipe. Have you ever had a grilled stir fry? No!!!? Take a look!
Let's start from the beginning. I decided to cook directly on the stove top grill.
I cut up veggies and just grilled them.
While the veggies were cooking, I also began working on the pasta.
I used the Ezekiel Sprouted Pasta.
I made some extra one to have it ready for the upcoming days.

While the pasta was cooking I added some shrimp to the grilling veggies
Mixed the cooked pasta with the grilled veggies and shrimp
It was fast. Healthy. Yummy!

After lunch I had to get my sweat session in....I worked out to get ready for the burger!
Here is me pre-work out!

It was a fun day!

HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!
