Adjusting
Murphy seems to be adjusting quite well to his new home. Well, he sure has made himself comfortable! The first couple of days after we moved, Murphy acted a little weird, but probably because we weren’t paying much attention to him. We were too busy unpacking and organizing our lives! Here’s something that you might not know about pugs: they are attention whores. If Mal and I don’t pay attention to Murphy, he finds something around the house to chew/destroy. Typically, it’s a pair of socks, but, with a house completely in shambles, I’m sure you can imagine how many things he could get himself into. Murphy was actually driving us crazy!
Today, however, Murph seems like his old self again. He’s much more calm and he’s not sneaking off to find things to wreck. He’s pretty much stuck by my side and kept me company all morning. Soooo, Murphy learned how to jump up on the couch this morning. He did it once in the past, which surprised Mal and me just as much as him, but he’s already parked his big pug butt on the couch twice today. I’m not psyched that he’s sleeping on the “human couch,” but I just couldn’t wake him up to move him onto the floor. Look at that peaceful smooshy face!
Lunch Mal and I are also adjusting well to our new home. It’s still kind of a mess, but it’s slowly coming together. I especially love our new kitchen!
One of my favorite things about the kitchen is the little shelf over the stove where I now keep my most frequently-used spices, salt & pepper, Garlic Gold, and olive oil. It’s so handy!
This little shelf made roasting cauliflower a piece of cake this afternoon.
After chopping up the cauliflower and throwing it into a large mixing bowl, I just grabbed the olive oil, salt & pepper, and Garlic Gold from the shelf, tossed the cauliflower in it, and popped it all into the oven on a baking sheet. Easy peasy.
With lunch, I also had a toasted bagel with melted extra sharp cheddar and creamy balsamic dressing for dipping the cauliflower and cheesy bagel.
After lunch, I satisfied my sweet tooth with a Pumpkin Whoopie Pie from Babycakes (not the one in Quincy). The filling was cream cheese frosting– my favorite!
I really loved today’s lunch. It was satisfying and delicious on all levels. On the agenda for the rest of the day: pug walk, NuVal work, more unpacking, dinner, and then (hopefully) relaxing. I hope your Monday is off to a fabulous start!
