Afternoon Crafts

By Chic and Green (Visit website)

I am a homebody this afternoon. I dropped Ben off at preschool about 2 hours ago and have finished my baklava, decorated some ornaments, packed more creams to be mailed, and have discovered the wreath I am decorating needs more glass balls for it. I think I'll get them tonight.

I was going to go to Marshall's in Pittsford, but I was chilly and wanting to come home and do some projects instead.

Things I've Been Working On:

I have been making some ornaments to hang around the living room. This is the room without red and other traditional Christmas colors, as I'm keeping with greens and pinks. I bought some wooden ornaments for 50 cents each at Hobby Lobby, painted them white, and then coated them with German glass glitter. I added a "yo yo", a glitter-covered heart, and an old button, and them hot glued it to a paper doily. I replaced the generic hanger with some mint green seambinding, too. Simple!

This one was once a rusty tin primitive star. It was in a box and not being used, so I painted it a very pale pink, added glitter, and hot glued an old brooch into the center.

This one I want to be all white. I tried to paint over pastel buttons but must need a bit more paint because I can still see the blue in one of them....Oh well! This was unfinished wood. I painted it white, added glitter, glued on buttons, and added a flower. I will add white seambinding to this as its ribbon.

I started this one last night while CSI was on. I bought a 20" wreath at Walmart for $4 and hot glued existing ball ornaments I was no longer using in shades of fuchsia and purple to the wreath.
I also added some green polka dotted balls I found for $3 a pack at Walmart.

As you can see, I ran out and need to find more. This will be hung in the living room. I want to leave some of the pine exposed, but need to balance it out a bit more. This has been a fun and easy project and I'm eager to finish it tonight.
