Apple Pie (Pita od Jabuka)
Beautiful, simple apple pie, cake slice. The first time I tried this was when my husband's Baka made it. We had gone to visit briefly and didn't have time to stop for the usual coffee and stomach full of cakes so when we were leaving she handed me a parcel full of them. Later when we arrived home, after the long drive, I put the kettle on, even though it was nearly midnight and opened the parcel. I spotted this one straight away, among the many gorgeous delicacies and thought that it looked like it would be a bit of a lighter sort of cake to have that late at night. Well indeed it was but not if you end up having about 4 pieces of it ;) It was worth it though! Ingredients: For Pastry: 200 grams of unsalted butter1 and 1/2 of plain flour1 and 1/2 cups of self-raising flour1/2 a cup of white sugarpinch of salt1 dessert spoon of sour cream180 milliliters of milkicing sugar for sifting For Filling: 1 kilogram of Green Apples1/2 a cup of caster sugar1 rounded dessert spoon of vanilla sugar of vanilla sugar1/2 a teaspoon of cinnamon 1/4 of a cup of finely chopped walnuts 1 and 1/2 dessert spoons of fresh lemon juicea few drops of rum essence (optional) Method: Grease a 30 x 25 centimeter cake pan and preheat oven to 170 degrees celcius. In a large bowl combine the flours, sugar and salt. Mix to form a dough.Divide dough in half and roll one piece out to fit pan.Make filling by peeling, coring and grating apple into a bowl and add in the rest of ingredients. Stir to combine and spread over pastry base.Roll remaining piece of dough out and place over apple filling. Trim edges.Bake for 40 minutes. Cover if the top is getting too brown.Remove from oven, allow to cool until able to handle. Cut into squares and sift top with icing sugar. related searches : Apple
