Arby's Chicken Salad Sandwich Taste-off

Have you ever felt like you were on a secret mission?  (Cue the Mission Impossible music...)  That is exactly how I felt this weekend as I did a little undercover taste testing.  Neither restaurant knew I was there for this very important taste test mission.





Taste Test #1 - Arby's Market Fresh Grilled Chicken and Pecan Salad Sandwich





I unwrapped the sandwich and was very impressed at the size...this is a LARGE sandwich!  It arrived on hearty wheat bread that was extremely fresh.  It was full of large chunks of grilled chicken, crunchy pecans, diced red apples, celery and juicy red grapes all blended together with a mayo base.  I took my first bite and was delighted with all the flavors that complimented each other.  This sandwich has so much flavor and with the large chunks of the chicken, grapes and apples you feel as if this is a meal in itself.  (I ordered this as a combo that came with curly fries but handed them to the kids because the sandwich was plenty.)  What a great fresh alternative to your typical fast food burger.  I would most definitely order this again (and probably will the next time we visit our Arby's).



Taste Test #2 - Subway's Orchard Chicken Salad Sandwich







For part two of my mission I was to try Subway's Orchard Chicken Salad Sandwich.  I ordered it as close to the Arby's Chicken Salad Sandwich as I could; whole wheat bread and only added a little lettuce.  Subway's chicken salad has a few different ingredients like cranberries and golden raisins.  It also is made with tender chicken, sweet apples, celery and a mayo base.   I noticed a few differences after trying this sandwich.  1-There was not as much chicken salad on my bread, it was a little skimpy.  2-The flavors were similar but this definitely did not have the flavor power that Arby's did.   3-Lastly, the size of Subway's chicken salad ingredients were diced much smaller.  Would I order this sandwich again?  Probably not, it wasn't bad but it honestly didn't compare to Arby's Chicken Salad Sandwich.
