Back to life in Salt Lake

By Vintage Mixer (Visit website)

The last couple of weeks I've been recounting my trip to China.  I still have a few recipes to post but I am switching back to my normal blogging and will be back to posting, Salt Lake restaurants, new recipes, and food news from around the area.  I wanted to catch you up on a few things going on around the Salt Lake City food scene.

Prana Yoga will be opening its doors at Trolley Square May 2nd and will also be opening a Fresh Foods Cafe, Supernatural, soon after. The 4,800 square foot space offers a variety of amenities, including a full-service spa with steam showers, spacious, light-filled, sound-proof practice rooms with cork flooring, the vegan café, and a retail section offering yoga supplies. I don't know about you but I'm excited for more transformation like this at Trolley Square.  And I think this Yoga Studio will be a great compliment to the beautiful new Whole Foods that recently opened at Trolley.

Another event I'm looking forward to is Tastemakers on May 19th and 20th. Salt Lake Magazine is putting on a two-day strolling food event, featuring restaurants from across the state. You can purchase tickets online for $20 at www.saltlakemagazine.com, which will give you a passport that will allow you to sample foods from some of Salt Lake's best restaurants on both evenings of the event.

Also, Salt Lake has a new deli that boats of New York and Jewish roots.  As you walk in 9th South Delicatessen you'll see their huge glass case filled with fresh made salads, gourmet meats and cheeses, not to mention all of the fun goodies they have for sale around their store, from chocolates, to specialty sodas! I tried a sandwich from there the other day and I am looking forward to telling you more about it in a full post.

And last but not least, the Salt Lake area, is now home to the urban winery, Kiler Grove Winery. You may sample their wines Thursday through Saturday. All of their bottles are produced from grapes grown exclusively on the west side of the Paso Robles Appellation, one of California's acclaimed grape-growing regions.
