Bagalabath and Potato
Bagalabath/Yogurt/Curd rice with potato
Ingredients: Bagalabath Rice - 1 cup water - 1:3 ratio curd - 1/2 cup milk - 1/4 cup green chillies - 3 curry leaves - 1 or coriander leaves ginger paste - 1 tsp cashew - 1tbsp mustard and urad dhal - 1 tsp oil - 1 tbsp channa dhal - 1 tsp Potato curry Potato - 7 to 8 [small potatoes] cut into thin slices Can be substituted with 1 large potato as well cut into small cubes after peeling the skin. cumin seeds - 1 tsp onion - 1/2 cup chopped chilli powder - 1 tsp coriander powder - 1 tsp cumin powder - 1 tsp mustard and urad dhal - 1 tbsp Method : Bagalabath : Wash the rice and soak it in water and microwave it for around 25 mins. Once it is cooked take it out and try to smash the rice by adding curd . Boil the milk in a small cup in microwave for 1-2 mins. In a frying pan , add oil , let mustard,uraddhal,channadhal splutter for a while and then fry chopped chillies, cashews and curry leaves. Mix it with the rice . Now add the milk finally and mix again well. Mix helps to maintain the consistency for long. When u pack lunch the milk keeps the moisture and taste well. Potato curry : In a frying pan , add 2 tbsp of oil , add cumin seeds , mustard and urad dhal and wait till it splutters and then add chopped onion ,once it turns transparent add the cut potato and then keep frying for sometime and then add chillipowder, coriander powder and cumin powder to the mix and once raw aroma is gone, add some water and turn the stove to medium and let the potato cook for a while. If you wanna do it fast, you can boil the potato in microwave before cutting for around 6 min and then peel the skin and cut into small pieces . When u r cooking with boiled potatoes no need to add water. Once done add 1 tbsp of oil and turn of stove. Serve curdrice with potato curry. Happy cooking! related searches : Bagalabath
