Banana Split Cake
A few weeks ago my Grandma made the best dessert for Sunday dinner. It was the perfect dessert for for summer. We knew we had to make it when we went on Good Things Utah (watch the video here). We used homemade caramel, which I think really makes the dessert. We added a little bit of cinnamon...YUM! Of course, feel free to used pre-made caramel...it is good that way as well! This dessert is sure to impress even the hardest of critics!
(oops...I forgot to take a picture...all THREE times we made this, so here is the picture off of GTU's site) Ingredients 12 Ice Cream Sandwiches 2 bananas thinly sliced 1/2 gallon ice cream softened Caramel Sauce: 1 3/4 cups brown sugar 1 1/4 cup of half and half 2 tblsp corn starch 1/4 tsp cinnamon Mix the brown sugar and corn starch together in a pan. Add the half and half and cinnamon and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 5 minutes or until thick stirring often. Strawberry sauce: 1 cup strawberries chopped 1 1/2 cup water 1/2 cup sugar Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and boil for 5-8 minutes stirring often, until thick. In a 9 x 13 pan, place the ice cream sandwiches on the bottom (cut them to make sure it is all covered). Top with the Caramel sauce until they are all covered. Top the Carmel with the slices of banana. Spread the ice cream over the top of the bananas. Sprinkle the strawberry sauce over the top of the ice cream. Put the pan into the freezer overnight to let the ice cream set up. Serve individual servings and let people top it with their favorite ice cream toppings like whip cream, cherries, and nuts... so good, and so easy. related searches : Banana
