Blind Faith and Spinning Sushi
I have GOT to stop having such fun Saturdays! I always intend on taking a little blogging break from Cute Food Saturday through Sunday dinner, but alas, fun Saturdays are just always in the cards. The first fun thing of the day was a meeting with the woman who’s making our wedding invitations to pick out our wedding invites! We met at Panera, and after just a few minutes, we had the design, color, and layout picked. All that’s left is picking wording and fonts! I’ll have a sample to show you all in a couple weeks! Then, I met up with Jenn, Caroline, and Amanda at Blind Faith Cafe in Evanston, IL for a late lunch and foodie fun. It was quite fun going back to Blind Faith since I’ve been going there since I can remember. I was telling the girls how, when I was little, it was a little hippy-dippy vegetarian place with a kids toy corner and old furniture. Now though, it’s a beautiful and classy place with the same delicious food I remember. I ordered an old favorite, chilaquiles, and the waiter was great… he said “We’ve changed it a bit in the last little while; I’ll have them make it the old way for you!” It was JUST as good as I remembered!
![]() Eggs, tortillas, guac(!), sour cream, black beans, and brown rice…oh and spicy salsa We had a very willing busboy take our picture after lunch…a fun time was had by all! ![]() That’s me and Jenn on the left, and Amanda and Caroline on the right. See those little tubs on the table by me and Amanda? The lovely Jenn “baked Whole Foods dessert” for us and gave us tubs of these delicious organic cookies! Thanks Jenn! The other girls had somewhere else to be, but Jenn and I were in no hurry… so we walked up to The Mexican Shop so I could buy a new nose ring (finally! no more silver booger!) then we both agreed: the hot weather called for some of the best fro-yo ever! We played some car musical chairs and drove over to Red Mango! I got a medium with watermelon and mochi: ![]() Jenn got hers with blueberries, and I insisted she try a mochi piece… I think she liked it! After some much-needed catching up, I dropped Jenn back at her car and then headed out to my nail place (yes, I have a thing with getting my nails done!) I got my acrylics filled, and then decided to get a polish change on my toes. *warning! picture of toes ahead! if you hate feet, scroll on!* ![]() I love my new toe design! THEN i did a little shopping (bought a candle with a gift card, and a pair of sandals I’ve been watching to go on sale for a month!) and headed home. Adam and I debated back and forth about what to do for dinner, and decided to try a place that’s been intriguing for a while. Sushi Station is a rotating sushi bar, where chefs prepare fresh sushi, and then place it on color-coded plates (for pricing) within a covered conveyor belt. Customers sit on the outside, and open the little door in front of them when something strikes their fancy. I completely forgot what all this was that we got, but I know that one roll had pieces of toasted coconut, the red stuff is plum paste, and there were some unpictured crab rangoon. There were a few other pieces of sushi that I completely forgot to photograph (bad blogger!) and you’ll have to excuse the crappy phone pics. The last photo is not mine, but rather a found image. Source is linked. We decided to browse around Barnes & Noble after dinner, and I bought two books: Julie and Julia, and One Week in the Zone (at the suggestion of MizFit, after telling her i was sick of counting) I’m excited to read them both! Today, we’re off to my stepdad’s brother’s birthday party in the suddenly sweltering summer heat. I’ll be back for dinner tonight! related searches : Blind
