Breathing Through it
Hello and what a different person I am! I am so happy I decided to go to that class this morning, it was just what my body, and mind needed. The instructor, Sheila, classically trained in India, took us through exquisitely sequenced postures, throughout the Primary Series. She focused in on the breath, and pushed us to our full expression of each posture, through slow and deliberate inhalations, and exhalations. It is so incredible, the power in which we hold when we focus our intentions. This breath is such a vehicle, and all to often it lies dormant, a shallow version of it's truest potential. With her melodic voice, I rode my breath, and the breath of my neighbors throughout the 90 minutes, and sustained each with integrity. Not once did I feel the need to "speed up!" or change her sequence. I felt each posture, and celebrated the fact behind it all. I was doing this. Moving freely, moving beautifully. Holding myself up, supporting myself through my strength. This practice hit me, at how much of a celebration it can and should be, of how much of a reward it has been for me this past weekend. A celebration and honoring of my body, my form. It was such a restorative, and balancing class - a perfect re-entry to my body. Lunch this afternoon was still a safe bet. And truly, all I wanted. Peanut butter and Jelly on Soft Wheat with crunchy Carrot sticks Yum! This bread is so doughy and soft, and although I am quite a fan of the grilled sammie, this is pretty legit for a PB&J. I also sipped on some Coconut water Zico Passionfruit and Orange These are so refreshing after a Yoga class, but more importantly after a long weekend. I rely on these heavily for my blood sugar, and knew I needed all the support I could get in the form of Potassium and Electrolytes. Always refreshing! Have a blessed day, peeps.
