Broiled Saba and New Bento Box
What happens when you can’t decide on either the MRB or the M4SB? Ladies and gentlemen, bentoists and lunch boxers…I present to you the MR4SB! For new visitors to this site, the MRB is the famous “Magic Round Box” that magically transforms all contents into beautiful bento arrangements and the M4SB, the highly coveted “Magic 4 Sectioned Box” which by it’s own design also creates a pretty lunch. While “out and about” yesterday, Saba Man spied this box at H-Mart and quickly added it to our shopping cart! I can’t say “no” to bento boxes so how could I say “no” to Saba Man!? I suspect this container is actually designed for storing banchan (Korean side-dishes) but it’s not too deep and it’s approximate 2 cup capacity makes for a nice bento box. The lid closes with a light snap so I will be wrapping it up in a furoshiki for extra security. Saba Man hasn’t seen his lunch yet so won’t he be pleased to see his namesake packed inside! This mackerel is cooked right there at the store which pleases me to no end. If you’ve ever cooked saba in your own kitchen…you know of the odor that lingers in your home for what seems forever! Also in the box is bamboo rice which will be popular these next few days in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and the “Wearing O’ the Green”! The other items are cucumbers with toasted sesame, baked tofu, carrots, tomatoes and the tiniest mandarin I could find! So what do you think? Is this box better for a lunch or for storage? Bento or banchan? related searches : Broiled
