Busytown Mysteries... New children's show on CBS - Review
Do you remember the characters Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm? Do you remember the name Richard Scarry from your childhood? I sure do. I remember reading Richard Scarry books, and loved the colorful pictures and fun animal characters. Why am I talking about these characters now? Well, there is a new animated children's series on CBS called Busytown Mysteries based on the beloved characters from the published works of Richard Scarry. The show can be seen on weekend mornings on CBS. You can go HERE to find your local listing for the show. I recently received a review copy of the new series, with two 11- minute stories. Each episode consists of two 11-minute episodes. I was given this DVD in participation with the One2One Network. In exchange for the free DVD, I agreed to review the series and new website for Busytown Mysteries on my blog. * The Busytown Mysteries series follows the lives of the most beloved Scarry characters, lead by Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm, as they solve the many every day mysteries of Busytown. Where is Mr. Frumble?s pickle car? The Busytown kids will find out! How can they help a lost parrot find its owner? Leave it to Huckle and friends to solve the case! Busytown Mysteries engages children with fun storylines and lovable characters, while introducing them to deductive reasoning skills. Who? What? When? Where? Why?There is also a new interactive website your child can access to help solve the mystery. HERE is a link to the website. So, what did I think about Busytown Mysteries? Or, more importantly, what did my 2 1/2 year old think of it. SHE LOVED THE STORIES!! She kept asking to watch more episodes. Needless to say, I set my DVR to record the upcoming episodes, of which she has already viewed two. What did mommy think? I liked it, too. The story and plot line is reminiscent of the My Friends Tigger and Pooh series. The Super Sleuths are always solving a mystery or problem much like the Scarry characters. The Busytown Mystery is much the same. That'sa good thing. The story gets your child thinking, using problem solving skills to figure the who, what, where, and why of the situation. The plot line is simple and not too complex for your little preschooler. The show is a winner for us. I also logged onto the interactive website. I have to say, I was not as impressed. For me, it seemed to have a very slow response time and I feel my little one would loose patience with the process. See what you think. It is simple for the preschooler to use. Here is some more info on the website: Busytown also entertains and educates fans at home with the fun, interactive website BusytownMysteries.com where kids can explore different neighborhoods in Busytown, interact with the Busytown characters and play 14 games and activities designed for preschoolers, including interactive games, a Fan Club and ?My First Email,? which lets little ones email their progress to pre-approved friends and family addresses. If you have a young child of preschool/ kindergarten age..... they will enjoy the new Busytown Mysteries. ![]() Don't forget to come back on Tuesday for "Tempt My Tummy Tuesday" blog carnival.
