Candied Yams
Candied yams...hmmmm this is the first time I read of it. Over here we called this yam , sweet potato and we don't normally candied it for it is already sweet by nature. Depending on the country, the term "yam" is used to embrace many tubers, including the sweet potato, which is no relation. But after I found out how Curtis Stone candied these yams, I knew I had to try it out, just for curiousity sake and true enough, it was great and great as a side dish for any meat dish. It goes well with roast meat especially. Yumm Yumm ! I will normally cook these yam into sweet yam soup with coconut milk or just have them steamed or deep fried in egg flour batter with glutinous rice cake but roasting them and candied them is my first time ! :) ![]() Serve these candied yams as a side dish for a meat main dish or as a snack while watching your favourite movie would be great. Of course , I ate this while facing the idiot box and Daddy had his while surfing the net. I guess it must be nice for him too for he ate them without any complaint :p I took his empty bowl to the kitchen after 30 minutes ! The empty bowl tells a thousand words...it was good ! ![]() cut the yam into cubes , sprinkle salt and drizzle olive oil all over the cubes, place in a preheated oven of 400 deg F for 30 minutes, take out the tray of nicely roasted yams , drizzle maple syrup all over the yam...put back into the oven for another 10 minutes yummy! ![]() I thought it would be very sweet but no..it wasn't! the crispy edges and velvety inside and the taste of the slightly burnt honey smell...mmmm delish! ![]() one great way to roast yams..thanks to Curtis Stone :))) Enjoy ! related searches : Candied
