Classic Shrimp Cocktail
I absolutely love shrimp cocktail and usually make it with the traditional cocktail sauce that is made with chili sauce and horseradish but I have done it with a different type of sauce today. It's called a Marie Rose sauce and my friend Mary from Scotland gave me the recipe. It's basically like Russian or Thousand Island salad dressing but a little bit different as it has a splash of brandy in it and some hot sauce.
Classic Shrimp Cocktail with Marie Rose Sauce Serves 4 Ingredients 20 jumbo cooked shrimp 1 Lemon cut into wedges Lettuce leaves, torn into small pieces (any type of lettuce) for decorating the inside of the glass 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/4 cup ketchup splash Worcestershire sauce splash of brandy splash of hot sauce pinch of Cayenne pepper Italian Parsley for garnishing Directions To make the Marie Rose sauce, in a bowl mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brandy, hot sauce and Cayenne pepper together. Place a few lettuce leaves in the bottom of a martini glass. Hang 5 shrimps off the sides of the glass. Place a large dollop of the Marie Rose sauce on top of the lettuce. Place two lemon wedges in the glass. Garnish with a parsley sprig. related searches : Classic
