Computers, Books and the end of an Era

By Eatin' on the Cheap (Visit website)

I'm sure that you all have heard of the recent passing of 3 American icons, Ed, Farrah, and MJ. Well, not to be outdone, my computer of the last 8 years and my first large purchase, has also bit the dust. Although not technically dead yet, my computer is certainly on it's last leg and no longer has any more room to store anything else. It took me 10 minutes to just open the internet this morning. Therefore, I cannot load any new pictures. Hence, no new recipes. Don't worry though, I'm getting a new computer in the very near future.
The good thing about a dead computer is that I have caught up on some reading. I LOVE books and will often go escape to the bookstore and wander the aisles scanning over the hard work and dedication of thousands of other people. The only problem with books is that they are very expensive. I mean, have you bought a new book lately? Most are $25+ unless it's a paper back and then you are looking at $15 or more. I think that is a lot to pay for something that you are probably only going to read once. Lucky for us, my late father-in-law introduced us to Daedalus Books. What a great place! They have books, DVDs, and CDs for bargain basement prices. Most books range in the $4 - $7 range with only a few that are more than that. The DVDs and CDs are also priced very low. Now I'm not saying you will find Dan Brown's new novel here, or Eminem's new CD; but you will find a Joan Baez, Ray Charles and the complete box set of the original Avengers TV show. So if your tastes tend to be off the main stream this is a great resource for you! And go ahead and buy lots of stuff because any and all orders ship for $5.95.
