Cupcake Crawl: Second Stop!
For our second stop on the cupcake highway, we decided to hit up Central Market, Austin's gourmet food market that has been in operation since 1994. Central Market is renowned for its incredible selection of cheeses, chocolates, etc, from all over the world and its foodie focus. How would the bakery be? Well, it was very crowded and we had to wait a bit, but that just gave us time to look over the delicious looking cupcake selection. In true southern fashion, I let the lady waiting beside us go first. When our turn finally rolled around, we had our hopes pinned on the red velvet and chocolate mousse cupcakes. The red velvet cupcake was scrumptious! Perfect cream cheese frosting and mouthwatering red cocoa cake. There was some sort of liquid in the cake part, which we guessed to be a liqueur. The only flaw I found in this one was that the cake was a bit dry. V thought this might be because the cupcake was still cold from refrigeration. I wasn't completely sold on this theory. After the wonderful red velvet option, the chocolate mousse cupcake was a bit of a letdown. The icing was decent, very fluffy with a light cocoa taste. The cake part was somewhat bland. V enjoyed it more than I did as I was hoping for a very strong chocolate taste, which was missing. related searches : Cupcake
