(CWF) Chocolate-Nut Loaf Cake

It has been a while since I baked along with the Chocolate with Francois group.  I've missed them and Francois.  These recipes always challenge me.  This one was no exception.

Leslie at Lethally Delicious, chose this month's recipe.  It really is a great pick.  This is a tasty treat!


This loaf-cake is full of nuts!  That was the only thing I had a little trouble with.  Although hazelnuts are not too hard to find, and I'm sure they are available peeled and ready-to-use, the ones I got needed to be peeled.  So I par-boiled them and rolled them in a towel and the skins were still on so I did it again and same result, finally on the 3 try, the skins came off.  Learning curve? 



Francois suggests a chocolate glaze.  I had the ingredients to make this glaze sitting on the counter and got lazy decided that since I really wanted to serve this not too sweet, chocolaty nutty-loaf  cake with vanilla ice-cream, I should skip the chocolate glaze and just use chocolate syrup.  (Sorry Francois!)

So yummy!  Perfect with ice-cream! 

Since it is a LOAF-cake, I'm thinking of toasting a slice to have with coffee.  Or perhaps making a chocolatey-nutty french toast with a slice and sprinkle that with some powdered sugar!  Oh the possibilities!
