Dal Curry/ Parippu Curry

Ingredients:



Moong Dal/ Cherupayar parippu - 3/4 cup
Coconut scraped- ½ cup
Shallots/ Kochully- 3
Green chilly- 1 or more
Turmeric- ½ tsp
Cumin/ jeera Pwd- ½ tsp
Method:

Wash and clean the dal.
Add 1 ½ cup water in a pressure pan and cook the dal for two whistles.
Switch off the flame and let it cook in the pressure inside.
In the mean time prepare the masala which is the thoran mix which I have posted before.
Put the remaining ingredients in a blender, and blend to a smooth paste. Use minimum water.
Open the lid and add this masala to the cooked dal.
Heat and when it begins to bubble add salt to taste and switch off the flame.
You can enhance the taste by spluttering some mustarts, curry leaves and dry chilly in 1 tsp oil.
Serve with hot rice, with a tsp of ghee and pappad.
