Dark Chocolate Tarts
Had a sudden craving for chocolates. As it was quite late n the evening, I decided to bake something quick and simple. The recipes below yield 12 medium size tarts. Use good quality chocolates for better taste. The sweetness of the end product really depends on the chocolate that you use. So, if you prefer bittersweet taste, go for the bittersweet chocolates. One good recommendation will be Valrhona chocolates. One way to describe the taste of this tart is "like having crunchy biscuit with creamy melt in your mouth chocolates" : ) Dark Chocolate Tarts Tart Crust 50g butter 50g icing sugar 125g flour 1/2 egg yolk ( i used 1 medium egg yolk as I find my dough quite dry) Chocolate cream 100g whipping cream 2 tsp unsalted butter 200g dark chocolate Method To make tarts : 1.Beat butter and icing sugar until creamy. Add egg yolk and mix well. Then fold in flour to form dough 2. Using pressing method, ( with floured thumbs) press dough into tart casings. 3. Bake in oven at 180C for 20 mins or until cook. Leave to cool To make chocolate cream: 1. Bring whipping cream and butter to melt over simmering water. Stir in chocolate until chocolate melts. Spoon mixture into cooled tarts.
