Declining Fructose-Ridden Food or Drink

By Freedom From Fructose Intolerance (Visit website)

I went out with my dad the other day, and our friend who works at the restaurant is used to me always getting Shirley Temples (a drink made of Sprite and Grenadine), so he automatically gave me one when we arrived.
However, I had discovered last time when I became ill that Grenadine is almost pure High-Fructose Corn Syrup in most cases.
It would be stupid to drink the Shirley Temple, wouldn't it? Who would do that?
I did.
I wanted so badly not to be any trouble for our friend, so I just didn't say anything, and I drank it.
Surprisingly, I wasn't horribly ill, although I was quite bloated. (Sometimes I guess reactions will be different.)
I know I should have just declined the drink, asked for a Diet Pepsi (diet sodas have no HFCS), but I just wanted to not be any trouble.
The same way I want to not be trouble with what my mom fixes for dinner.
I guess we just all have to learn that not being sick is worth the trouble.

Have you ever had to decline something containing fructose?
