Detox Day

By Eat, Drink and Be Aware (Visit website)

Good Afternoon and Happy Hump Day!

I am happy to report that I woke up rested and motivated to shed these dreaded few pounds that I have been lugging around the past month or so.  My goal is to shed 3 permanent pounds and if I lose 5 lbs even better!  I know that is not a lot of weight to lose it just sort of crept up on me (that is not really true- it was helped by all those goodies I make!) and I just have not felt as good in my jeans.  Now with the the spring weather just around the corner I think it is the perfect time to get lean and mean!

I love all the spring flowers that are popping up.  Spring is a time for new beginnings and I am excited and motivated to clean up my act and get back in to my "happy zone."

I started my day off with TWO warm glasses of water with fresh lemon slices.  This wakes up the body and cleanses the system.

Then I made a delicious Raspberry Spinach Smoothie.  This was loaded with protein and also very refreshing.  It really filled me up and got me through Body Pump class.

Raspberry Spinach Smoothie

1 cup So Delicious Unsweetened Coconut Milk
2 cups baby spinach
1 cup frozen raspberries
1 scoop whey protein powder

I upped my weights at Body Pump class and was feeling a little shaky when I got home, in a good way.  I felt like a got a really good workout.

I then drank two more glasses of lemon water- flushing the system.  I had a little after-workout snack of 1/2 an Ezekiel English Muffin with a smear of Sunbutter.

That seemed to hit the spot.

Lunch was my new favorite Banana Cottage Cheese Split + 2 glasses of lemon water!

Banana Cottage Cheese Split

1 banana, split in half
1/2 cup cottage cheese
3 strawberries, sliced
1 tbsp Chia Goodness
1 tbsp sliced almonds

So delicious.

My plan for the rest of the day is to have a nutrious salad at Whole Foods for dinner.  We are planning to stop there after Taekwondo and I always love making a salad with tons of veggies, beans and some sort of whole grain such as quinoa.

I am actually going to try to give up dessert tonight which is extremely hard for me!  I am not into deprivation so I think I will have a yogurt parfait for a sweet treat or a piece of dark chocolate.  I will let you know how the day plays out but that is my plan so far!

It really all comes down to being mindful of what I am putting into my mouth, eating nutrious and filling foods and enjoying the foods I am eating as well.  I love food but I always feel better and have more energy when I eat healthy.

I am off to a good start and am excited to go and pick up the kids and get busy with the rest of our day!

Have a wonderful Hump Day and I will check in tomorrow.
