Diet Chart for Pregnancy and Nursing Mothers

Early Morning

A big glass (250 ml) of coconut water and two Marie biscuits

Breakfast

A bowl of cornflakes or wheat flakes mixed in toned milk (200 ml). A bowl of poha or vegetable upma or four slices of toast with cheese or paneer (40 gm) or one egg or sprouts (25 gm) and a glass of juice (200 ml).

Mid Morning

Lemon water (250 ml) or tomato soup (200 ml) along with one fruit

Lunch

Quarter plate fresh green salad, three to four chapattis or pulao or plain rice with two small helpings of seasonal vegetables and a small bowl of lentils or a helping of chicken or fish with carrot or pumpkin raita.

Evening Tea

A glass of milk (200 ml) with two cheese sandwiches or moong dal cheela or dhokla

Pre Dinner

A glass of juice (200 ml) and one fruit

Dinner

Quarter plate salad, three to four chapattis or 1 ½ to two small bowls of rice and seasonal vegetables, one small bowl each of lentil or chicken or fish with curd.

Bed time

A glass of milk (200 ml)



Nursing Mothers

Early Morning

A glass of milk (200 ml), two biscuits and five almonds

Breakfast

A bowl of oats or porridge made in 200 ml of toned milk, three or four idlis or homemade dosas (small), two slices of toast with jam or butter, one omelette and juice (200 ml).

Mid Morning

Lassi (250 ml) and one fruit

Lunch

Quarter plate fresh green salad, three to four chapattis or pulao or plain rice with two small helpings of seasonal vegetables and a small bowl of lentils or a helping of chicken or fish with curd and kheer or custard for dessert.

Evening Tea

Banana milk shake (200 ml) and a small bowl of paneer tikka or aloo paneer chat or two paneer cutlets or besan cheela

Pre Dinner

Vegetable soup (200 ml), one fruit

Dinner

Quarter plate fresh green salad, three to four chapattis or pulao or plain rice with two small helpings of seasonal vegetables and a small bowl of lentil or a helping of chicken or fish with curd and rasgulla for dessert.

Bed time

A glass of milk (200 ml)
