Dwaeji Kalbi
One of my favourites has to be Korean food. I love the spicyness and how pungent the flavours are, from the use of seasonings such as sesame oil, soybean paste, chili paste and korean soy sauce, to name a few. Everytime I go to a Korean restaurant I always order my favourite: Dwaeji Kalbi, or otherwise known as Korean BBQ pork. I love BBQ pork, whether it be chinese style, filipino style, kiwi style, but my all time favourite preparation of it definitely has to be korean style.
When I was browsing through Olive's blog site, her recipe for Dwaeji Kalbi, instantly caught my eye! So I had to try it out. I pretty much had all the ingredients for the marinade and just had to go out and get some thin slices of pork chops at the meat market. Check out her site for her recipe. Everything you need to know is on there along with great photos. I left the meat in the marinade for over a night and it makes all the difference. The flavours are fantastic! I have to say I love using sesame oil in marinades or cooking in general, just because it brings such a different flavour, through the use of a small amount. Serve with rice, pickled vegetables and a nice fresh salad.
