East Hampton Point
I heard about East Hampton Point because Day & Night are now hosting their famous Saturday brunches there. Though I didn't get to go for brunch, I did happen to go for dinner. The East Hampton Point is located in East Hampton, obviously, along Three Mile Harbor making it one of the best, if not the best, spots to see the sunset in the Hamptons (be sure to make your reservations for no later than 7:30 to catch it). There are cottages in the front of the complex since East Hampton Point is also a hotel and towards the back is the restaurant and marina. The parking lot is packed with Bentleys, BMWs and Jaguars if that gives you an indication of the type of people who go there. Though it does have an upscale clientele, East Hampton Point isn't pretentious at all and the crowd is quite mixed. The crowd ranges from families to the same Europeans you can find at their brunch parties on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant itself looks like an elegant boat house, don't forget to check out the actual sail boat placed in the bar area, and is split into the dining room and the more casual dining area which is next to the main dining room. As for the food, I was pleasantly surprised. To start I had the Crab Cakes. It was one large crab cake with mango, cilantro and a chipotle aioli which wasn't too spicy. The crab cake was very meaty, most restaurants tend to stuff the crab cakes with bread crumbs and put little crab in it, and the mango and the aioli went very well together and with the crab cake. As an entree I had the duck which consisted of both a duck breast and confit. The duck was moist and flavorful and the confit was so tender it literally fell of the bone. Sadly I couldn't have dessert since they couldn't guarantee that what I ordered would be nut free. The service was also good as well. I went on July 3rd, one of the prime weeks in the Hamptons, so the service was a bit frantic (I use "a bit" loosely). Never the less my table was never forgotten and our waitress was super friendly. Overall I was pleasantly surprised with East Hampton Point. I was expecting a much older crowd that who was there the night I went and sub par food. But instead I got great food, a good crowd and a beautiful sunset. I actually enjoyed East Hampton Point more than Nick & Toni (my second visit to Nick & Toni wasn't up to par with my first visit) and be sure to check it out if you're in East Hampton! related searches : East
