Farmer's Market Goodies

By Ashley's Little Kitchen (Visit website)

Saturday was really rainy. In fact, in poured rain and then stormed most of the night. That did not scare Mom and I from hitting the Farmer's Market!! We had never been there but read great reviews. I think the rain kept a lot of vendors away, but regardless of the size, we still had a really fun time! I'm not going to be cooking for most of the month of October (sad) so I couldn't buy too many fresh food items. I perused and made mental notes of what I was going to buy next time I go to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables! Hopefully next time it won't be awful weather so more people will be out there to sell!!

What did I buy?
-Grape Tomatoes-These are my addiction. I eat these for snack all of the time so naturally I had to get a lot of these!
-Rosemary Plant-By far, my favorite herb. I use it in almost every recipe so having a plant on hand may be a little more cost effective.
-Fresh Honey Wheat Bread-I figured Husband would like to make sandwiches on this bread for lunch everyday. After paying what I did I became motivated to learn to cook bread. I'm sure I could do it so much cheaper.
-Yellow Onions-The smell was so strong that I knew I had to buy them. They taste amazing!
-Hot Jalapenos-The peppers are so small and spicy and I used half of them to make homemade salsa!!
-Radishes-I'm very excited to slice these up for our salad tomorrow night!
-Cucumber-I promise you, the biggest cucumber ever.
-Blackberry Jam-Sooo good! I could eat it straight out of the jar but I won't. The jam guy probably had the best stand. He let you sample EVERYTHING.
-Very Berry Jam-This would be so great as a grown-up PB&J.
-Olive Relish-This is fantastic!! I'm going to cook chicken and top my chicken with this!! Husband doesn't want this because he doesn't like olives but really, the taste is so great that I'm sure he'll cave.
-Pepper Blend-A mix of different dried peppers in it's own little grinder!
-Local Honey- Oh. my. word. This honey was fantastic! Mom bought some too and we put it on our biscuits yesterday. Worth every penny.

We had a fun day and we can't wait to start hitting up other Farmer's Markets and Pick-Your-Own Farms. Definitely more fun than shopping in the produce aisle of our local grocery store!
