First Thai Food
6th Nov 2010
We actually wanted to go Ah Loy Thai for lunch. A very popular Thai Cafe at Shaw Centre but they were closed for vacation so we ended up at First Thai Food which is just near by. First Thai Food is a coffee shop style Thai restaurant located at Purvis Street. The restaurant ambiance and food are quite authentically Thai but rather pricey compared to Ah Loy Thai and Nakhorn Kitchen. We ordered simple dishes and total bills for 5 came up to more than S$80 plus, I think not very worth as we don't have any fish dishes. Overall the food was so so only and tend to be more on the sweet side. Not memorable and impressive enough for a revisit. Tom Yum Seafood The seafood was very fresh, the tom yum soup was nice but preferred more lemon grass & lime flavour.Mango Salad This was refreshing and appetising. The dressing was concocted very well but was expensive for such a small portion.Thai Fish Cake It was a bit sweet for my liking though the texture was good.Fried Chicken Wing Pretty ordinary.Vegetables Omelette This was quite special, a bit like those egg cake from Ngoh Hiang store. Assorted vegetables steamed with egg and salted egg white. Then slice and deep fry till crisp served with sweet dipping sauce.Sambal Longbean with Sotong The sambal was very nonya style instead of Thai. Not bad as the squid was not overcooked.Phad Thai This was way too sweet for our liking.Pineapple Rice Very bland, can only taste the pork floss.Red Ruby Our standard must order Thai dessert.Tapioca with Coconut Cream This is also one of our family must order but personally I don't like it. I find it too sweet... First Thai Food related searches : First
