Fit Fridays: Meet the Hungry Runner Girl
Today, I'm excited for you to meet one crazy {good} runner. You should know she ran a marathon on Monday.....on the treadmill! (I'll give you a minute to soak that in.)
Janae, from Hungry Runner Girl is here to share some of her insights on running. She is running the Boston Marathon this April and is working her booty off to get a sub 3-hour time (actually, I think she's shooting for a 2:50 time). Uhhh, amazing! I haven't done a half marathon since before my pregnancy (two years ago). She has inspired this sweet treat lover (yes, me) to get out there and do one again. Baby steps people. I'll let Janae run the marathons, while I work on doing a half. So let's meet this Hungry Runner Girl..... *********************************** First of all I just wanted to thank Kristy for letting me have this opportunity. I absolutely LOVE her blog and always look forward to reading it! I thought I would talk about running today because it is all I think about, talk about and dream about (besides chocolate and candy that is). Running is such a broad topic and everyone is at such different levels so I wanted to talk about a subject that applies to every runner no matter how fast you are or how far you go! THE MENTAL ASPECT OF RUNNING. We all have our good days of running..... But we all have our bad running days where we become frustrated, our body hurts and we just want to curl up in a ball and watch The Bachelor and eat Swedish Fish......... So, how do we pick ourselves back up and get going again and train to get faster, stronger and better? I think it all has to do with our MENTAL ATTITUDE. Whatever you tell yourself is going to happen will. If you believe that you are the bomb.com and you tell yourself over and over again that you LOVE exercise and that you are going to do well in your goals. YOU WILL. If you tell yourself that you are going to fail and that YOU CAN'T do something....better believe you won't be able to do it! So how to get past the negative thought processes about ourselves and about running: -Fake it to make it. Fake the fact that you believe in yourself and that YOU ARE A RUNNER and before you know it, you will believe it and you will become what you believe. -Post your favorite mantra's on your mirror, in your car, on your spouse's forehead. My favorite is, "Pain is temporary, quitting is forever." Every time I want to stop I say this to myself and I am too prideful to stop. -Realize that IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD. If it was easy, everyone would do it. We get STRONGER through the process. There are always two paths to take, one is easy and the only reward is that it is easy. A huge part of our happiness comes from accomplishing things we never thought we could. -Join a positive community. If you are around people that are negative and talk about running/exercise in a negative way, IT RUBS OFF. Read positive books, join a running group, read positive blogs and associate with people that talk about running as a positive thing. Sorry for the novel but I really do think that our Attitude determines our Altitude!!! Thanks again Kristy...YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! ******************* Janae, I'm sending you a dozen sugar cookies. I'm afraid if you keep running marathons on the treadmill weekly, you might break;) Thanks for the guest post! Good luck in Boston! related searches : Fit
