Food bank update
As you may know, I along with many Oregon bloggers, promoted Blog for Food during the month of February. Our final numbers are in and we raised a combined total of almost $2300. This was in addition to all the food that was dropped off to several wonderful locations that joined in. They are Saraveza, for singlehandedly collecting over $500 at the pub during the month, as well as Gilt Club and Little Red Bike Cafe for thinking of creative ways to get people to donate funds and food. Thanks also to Bruce at Vino in Sellwood for being the gracious recipient of spontaneous grocery donations. Food Bank Fridays from Cooking Dunkin StyleCookbook Cuisine is celebrating the birth of a new cookbook all month as well as collecting recipes for a new cookbook to benefit the food bank of San Antonio.I don't know how many people know this but every dollar goes a long way for our food banks. $1 buys 5 lbs of food, so that means we've helped buy over 11,000 pounds of food for hungry people. Our food banks, and yours, do many amazing things and I thank you for supporting them, in whichever state you are! Although our collective promotion is over I will continue to leave the link up because I believe they can always use our support. There are many creative ways to help and I am working on a few more. While I'm stewing my ideas check out what my fellow generous bloggers are up to.....
