For Japan With Love

It has been a week since the massive 9.0 earthquake in northeastern Japan, and nothing is as it was.

I’ve had a difficult time finding the “oomph” to continue on as normal here on LFM.  Luckily I’ve found some projects for myself that make it so that I can do something other than sit and watch the footage on TV feeling helpless.  Although I can’t share everything yet, I can tell you about an event tomorrow, March 18th—Bloggers Day of Silence.  Tomorrow, I will be taking a day of silence here on LFM, along with many other bloggers, in hopes that our silence will help raise awareness and to acknowledge the devastation going on in Japan.  The group is raising money to donate to Shelter Box, an organization that provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters.  the organization puts together large green boxes tailored to the disaster situation, typically containing a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack, and other vital items.  For more information, see For Japan With Love.  As my thoughts go out to the country where I will always keep part of my heart, I hope you will consider what you might be able to do to help.  Little things add up.
