Fotograf or Photograph, its the Nina factor that does it.-....................................by Dee Mansfield
  the Nina or the Egg?? In my English, whether you spell it fotograf or photograph, food recipes without a Nina Timm image just isn't the same. Her Nikon  and her...    Whether you link it to food, in South Africa or abroad, there is always someone who refers to the wonderful work of our Nina. What she does with limited facilities and easy recipes is a definite way to make me repent from fast food to fast easy recipes. I saw the offer from the Easy team to do a guest post (see end of last post) and I thought it may be interesting to take a quick look at what she has churned out over the last 2 years with regard to my particular interest,photography...   I have often wondered why she doesn't have a photo gallery on her site so that we can just look at the interesting images and wipe up the drool later! But alas she prefers to keep the rest of us entertained with food recipes that is like something from a professional photo shoot with little or no photo editing to speak of! Going through the images, I realised that the key to this is the fact that she achieves a lot of her feel with her layout and back grounds even though she would beat me with a stick for saying  she was a good or even great food stylist. She really plays down her ability and it amazes me that no one has been able to fulfill her dream of the occasional guest appearance for a magazine article or such like. For many years my English husband has attempted to convince me of meat balls and so on but with no success. Looking at Nina's meat ball article a while back got me thinking... maybe swallowing these things is not that bad after all! There are many vegetarians coming to my-easy-cooking.com even though Nina has all types of dishes and I truly believe it is her comfortable style of writing, her wholesome and some time even super healthy food (bit of poetic licence) and once again the "edible photo's".Being a digital photographer  has definitely opened many doors for all of us to experiment and try things with a camera although the excitement and sometimes the disappointment of a batch of Fotograf images will always be in our minds. Food online has also made cooking and experimenting a pleasure and for novices like myself food bloggers the world over make us confident that novices and semiprofessionals can make old recipes and ingredients fun again.When one pictures food, one doesn't think of pictures of food but rather the entire experience, moment, smells, flavours and of course...the company...something Nina never forgets to remind us all of after she has pictured food in her dreams and thoughts and then transformed it into our desires!!  While finding out more about Nina, her assistant Zuki (who has also been "baking" with a bun recently removed from the oven-he he) says that she has heard that there is a Book (Zuki calls it "a Manual" that Nina and the HUSBAND have almost completed to help the rest of us with the photography but even more importantly the website side for you bloggers out there with a 30 day electronic course included to also get you to the top 100 000 website owners in the world like www.my-easy-cooking.com is.!!As you have seen through the post, I have put in collections of the various images and I trust that this has been as exciting for you as it has been for me to take a trip down memory lane. There are some photo's that Nina has been less than happy with some time later but it is neccesary to see where we have come from to know where we are going. .....................................................................................................................................................
