Fun Foods....

By The Veggie Patch (Visit website)

First up I wanted to say a big (belated) Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there (Aussie and otherwise, I know the US at least celebrates on a different day). I wanted to blog that day but was busy with Dads (I'm lucky enough to have 3 wonderful Dads in my life, my own Dad, my Dad In Law and my childrens Dad).

We celebrated with small gifts:

Some Vegan Brunch Coffee Choc Chip Muffins with double the coffee because the first time we couldn't taste it enough:
And some of Ashley's Snickerdoodle Blondies which I halved and veganized.
I'd love to tell you how but I had a minor disaster. I decided to sub the eggs with "yoghurt" (meaning I mixed half a cup of rice milk with 1 Tbsp of Cornflour and microwaved it till it was thick). I mixed 3 Tbsp of the yoghurt mixture into the dry ingredients and couldn't figure out why my mixture was so immensely dry! I knew she said it was more like cookie dough but this was more like desert sand.

On 2nd glance, I noticed that I was supposed to add half a cup of butter! Only problem was we'd just run out and it was too late to be running to the shops, so I threw in the rest of the yoghurt mixture and added rice milk until the mixture resembled batter. I threw it into the oven with a heavy heart, knowing that concrete was likely to emerge.

What came out resembled slightly dry cake, so with a sigh, I plated it, covered it with plastic wrap and left it on the bench for the night.

The following day, who would have guessed, it was absolutely perfect! And I'm happy to say that every last little bit got eaten!! (Mr UnVeg was the biggest fan of all!)

Okay, enough story telling! Yesterday I went to the Asian Grocery Store. Sometimes I find a lot I want, sometimes not much.

This is the haul I came home with.
Seaweed snacks, gelatin free jelly mixes (I'm not sure I'm going to use these to be honest, they contain FOS which I didn't realize till I got home and I'm a little scared of it!)

Some Fried Gluten Balls, these are usually stuffed with meat:
And some Dehydrated Roasted Gluten:
Google searches haven't turned up great info on either of these last two. I know Susan from Fat Free Vegan has a recipe for soup, but it's no secret that I really don't like soup. Anyone have any ideas?
