Gluten-Free Italian by Jacqueline Mallorca

By The Not So Perfect Housewife (Visit website)

When we decided to try going Gluten Free, the only thing I was worried about was how was I going to make my favorite Italian food.

Then I came across Jacqueline Mallorca?s book ?Gluten Free Italian? and was thrilled when the publishers, Da Capo Press Lifelong Books, sent me a copy to review.

Jacqueline Mallorca has done a wonderful job putting together a beautifully written and easy to follow cookbook that gives hope to any Italian food lover who lives gluten free.

I sat one evening with my sticky notes in hand and stickied each recipe that I wanted to try. Needless to say, my book has TONS of sticky notes. With 10 chapters of recipes, from Contorni/Vegetable Dishes to Sweet Things, this cookbook is FILLED with over 150 wonderful recipes.

Some of my stickied and soon to be made recipes are:

Stuffed Zucchini Boats,Baked Celery Parmesan, Spaghetti with Caramelized Red and Yellow Peppers, and Caramelized Grape Tomato Crostini.

The other night we made some spaghetti with rice pasta and I SOO wanted to have a nice loaf of bread to go along with it. So I pulled out the ?Gluten Free Italian? cookbook and went to work putting together her Italian-Style Banquettes.DSC_0020

I was a little worried that not having a banquette pan would be my ruin, but I went ahead and did my ?tear shaped dollops? and baked according to the directions and Voila..

DSC_0002 They turned out beautifully and OH MY? they were so delicious!! There were NO leftovers of this bread.

The Gluten-Free Italian is also filled with information on gluten free shopping do?s and don?ts and some really creative cooking hints.

I loved the idea of assembling the dry ingredients of favorite bread recipes into baggies (labeling them of course), so you can have them handy to make a loaf when needed.

So if your currently on a gluten free diet and looking for some delicious Italian recipes to try, I would highly recommend The Gluten-Free Italian.

*Thank you to Jacqueline Mallorca and Lifelong Books for sending me a complimentary copy to review*
