"gourmet" fast food
i recently found one chef who took on the challenge of turning ordinary fast food dishes into something a bit more classy. he basically deconstructs the dishes in order to complete the make-over. i am always fascinated by dishes that look like a familiar dish or food, but taste completely different. in one post he turns taco bell burritos into tortellini. he describes how he unwrapped the burritos, blanching the tortillas and turning them into the pasta, filling them and then saucing the dish with packets of hot sauce. he even includes pouring the sierra mist into a wine glass to imitate sparkling wine. other examples include kfc chicken cordon bleu, long john silver ceviche and steak n'shake beef stroganoff.
