Grace Oatmeal Cookies
 1 cup of butter (I divide this 1/2 shortening and 1/2 butter)1 cup brown sugar 1/3 cup white sugar 2 eggs 2 tsp.vanilla 1- 1/2 cups flour 2 cups oats 2 tsp. baking powder pinch salt (optional: 1 cup chocolate chips, 1/2 cup nuts)  Mix together sugars and butter and shorting. Mix with electric blender until well blended.  Add to above mixture 2 eggs and vanilla.  Mix with blender until light and fluffy....put aside the wet mixture.  With another large bowl, mix together the dry ingredients.  Blend dry into wet.  At this point you can add chocolate chips, and blend.  I take a bit of this mixture from one bowl into another and I add the walnuts...nobody like nuts except me, so I divide this mixture:)  Place teaspoon fulls on baking sheet, 1 to 1- 1/2 inches apart.  Bake for 10-12 minutes at 350*  These soft cookies taste like grandmas old fashioned cookies...enjoy  Gracie  related searches : Grace
