Haldi Dudh/Tumeric Milk
The whole family was down with cough and cold last week. Though dad and son wrapped up their aaaaa..chuu quickly with loads of love and pamper, mum decided to stay in it longer to enjoy all the attention ...grin. So instead of enjoying all those hot soups and khichdis, I prefered the old tried and tested Tumeric Milk/ Haldi Dudh. Tumeric as we all know by now is best for its anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties....and if not the only but one of the best home remedies for soar throat, runny nose, cough and cold. This spice belongs to the ginger family, is excellent for the skin and a powerful healer in Indian Ayurvedic treatments. As a kid my mum always made me a hot cup of tumeric milk whenever I was struggling with frequent tonsales and cold problems. I remember once how cheekily I spilled the cup saying it just fell on its own and on the other count how I quickly washed it down the wash basin drain ....smiling.... Tumeric milk, as easy as it sounds just tumeric in milk, is a soothing home remedy for cough and cold, though I am not a big fan of it, but it works for me. Recipe: Boil a cup of milk, add 1/2 tspn of tumeric/haldi powder and sugar as per taste. Stir and drink hot at bedtime for best results. Variation: Milk + Tumeric + Sugar + Pepper (a pinch)Milk + Tumeric + Honey ( 1/2 tspn)Milk + Tumeric + Honey + Ginger (either 1/2 tspn of fresh ginger juice or ginger/soonth powder)Milk + Tumeric + Sweetner + Cinnamon (a pinch of powder or a stick boiled with milk)Milk + Tumeric + Sweetner + Cardomam ( a pinch)related searches : Haldi
