HLFD in SF: Farmers Market / Ferry Plaza Marketplace

By High/Low Food/Drink (Visit website)

For much of our San Fran trip, you could have found us at the Ferry Plaza Marketplace.  From food trucks to fresh produce from the farmers market, it has been our go-to SF spot that we have visited again and again.  We hope you enjoy our look back on our favorite SF tourist attraction.

Morning pick-me-up from Blue Bottle Coffee.
Breakfast in bed just got better with fresh fruit from the farmers market, Frog Hollow farm (hooray for Bing cherry season!), and fresh walnut bread from Acme Bread Co.
Satisfying our seafood cravings (I think I dream about that crab tower!) at Ferry Plaza Marketplace and Hog Island Oysters.
One of our lunches was biting into this juicy burger with egg and ham from Prather Ranch Meat Co.  (Yes, that's my hungry hubby digging in during my little photo shoot!)
Tacos 2 ways:  Korean tacos from Namu (2 for $5) and Tacolicious trio (3 for $9).  The Korean tacos were an interesting concept, using seaweed instead of tortilla and filled with kalbi (Korean short rib), rice, and kimchee salsa.  It was tasty, but more like a snack than a meal.  While we found the chorizo and potato taco a little dry, we really loved the melt-in-your-mouth beef short rib taco and beer braised chicken taco from the Tacolicious stand.
Bacon maple donut and whiskey glazed scone were our afternoon snack of choice.
Weekend Brunch:  Saturday morning at the Ferry Building means getting up early to wait in line at Primavera.  My absolute favorite dish is the Shrimp and Snapper Tostadas de Ceviche ($10) with avocado, lime mayonnaise, and tapatio salsa.  The seafood is so fresh and I love the crunch of the tostadas.
We also got the Tacos al Pastor ($9.50) which had marinated pork, citrus chile de arbol salsa, shaved pineapple, radishes, onion, and cilantro.  This was a heavier dish that had some good flavor (though I still preferred the lighter ceviche).
Having spent most of our SF time at the marketplace, we had to bring a piece of it home.  Red carrots, mushrooms, and fresh pea shoots made their wait into our carry-on and provided a wonderful dinner when we got back home to NYC.

The Ferry Plaza Marketplace is located along the Embarcadero at the foot of Market Street.
