I never in a million years would have thought I'd try canning anything. But I've heard from others that making freezer jam was really easy and thought I would give it a try. I bought a 3 pound package of organic strawberries from Costco and my kids for some reason did not eat them all in one day like they normally would, so before they went bad I figured I'd give this jam thing a try.
So off I went to get my supplies...some pint size glass and plastic Ball jars and a package of Sure-jell. All of the instructions are on the Sure-jell box. I even had the family involved in the crushing of the strawberries. The kids loved having it on toast and waffles for breakfast. Now we have a nice little stock of 10 jars of jam for the price I would have paid for 1 store bought jar and I know exactly what is in it, plus it didn't take a lot of time. I will definitely be making more and trying some other flavors. I'm thinking I might try making our own grape jelly for back to school sandwiches. When I do I'll be sure to post it and take more pictures of the process. Who knows maybe I'll make the leap to regular canning too!
