Homeschool Project: Project: Finding My Voice

By Jane Deere (Visit website)

I haven't posted about homeschool in a long time, so I thought I would give a little update.

This is my daughter, Lexie...she's growing up right before my eyes!  I have given her a special assignment recently, that I wanted to share with you, so that together with your help, we could give her some big moral support!

I created a blog for her called Lexie Lou.  I created this blog to teach her how to better navigate the internet and to learn to how to give her voice to her writing.  She is a very intelligent young lady and I want her to be able to project her thoughts to others in a meaningful, articulate manner.  I also want her to be able to explain why she has a certain opinion in a healthy way.  Mostly, I want her to develop her writing skills, because I believe she is very talented.

Her first series of assignments is called:

 "Project: Finding My Voice"

Our goal is for her to blog 3 times per week, choosing from a list of writing prompts.  She will also be required to read pre-approved blogs and leave comments.  She will also be learning the technical aspects of blogging, like uploading pictures, creating links and formatting her blog entries.

I hope this will be a positive, encouraging experience for her.  I will be proofing every posting, as well as following all of her comments, so that we can discuss everything about it.

I hope you will take a moment to look at her blog and leave some constructive and/or encouraging comments.  If you are or have been a teacher or writer, please leave comments with tips on improving her writing.

Thank you so much!
