Hope for women

By Chic and Green (Visit website)

I just have to tell you about a wonderful line of Fair Trade stationery called Hope For Women. You know I love pretty papers and buying items that are help others is also of great importance to me.

Hope For Women sells products made by women and the organization is committed to providing sustainable employment for economically disadvantaged women across the globe. When you purchase items from Hope For Women, you can be sure that the artisans are being paid a fair wage and that their working conditions are both healthy and safe. The company is based in Burlington, VT and is a member of the Fair Trade Federation.

The company is also green. The papers are actually tree-free and are made from recycled cotton rags. How cool is that? All plastic wrap on the packaging is compostable and made of EarthFirst PLA film. Their other packaging is made of 100% recycled paper. Inks are vegetable based and the flowers used in their pressed flower stationery is actually sustainably harvested using organic farming.

Besides being a truly ethical company, the items are truly lovely. One of my favorite collection is the Portraits of El Salvador collection. Each card in this collection is made by women in El Salvador whose homes were lost in mudslides and earthquakes. These beautiful cards feature beautiful women and are said to represent a sense of hope and beauty for the future. The cards in this collection sell for $5.50 each.

You can also buy handmade jewelry from Hope For Women. They offers Tagua jewelry and seed jewelry from El Salvador. I was sent a stunning green bracelet made from Tagua nuts found in the Colombian rainforest. The quality is lovely and the price is affordable at $16.99. The jewelry offered by Hope For Women is just stunning. The pieces would make gorgeous gifts!

I also stumbled up some beautiful angels to adorn your Christmas trees. The angels they offer are natural and eco-friendly--made from corn husks, orange peels, and corn flour. How unique!

Chic & Green adores companies that are not just green, but that also help women. Hope For Women does both. I hope you'll check them out. When you do, please let them know C & G sent you over.

*Disclosure: I was sent items from Hope For Women for review. This in no way has influenced my opinion.
