World?s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest experienced record crowds, breaking the 2010 attendance record of 221,229 people. A final attendance number will be available today. More than 400 barbecue teams participated in the 2011 World?s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, Feb. 24 ? Feb. 26. Champions were named in several categories. Texas Pepper Jelly Champion Chicken Rotten Wood Cookers Champion Ribs Goose Creek BBQ 1 Champion Brisket San Antonio Invitational Team - Texas Pepper Jelly Go Texan Best Barbecue Freestone County Go Texan BBQ Most Colorful Team Holy Cow Cookers Go Texan Most Colorful Nueces County Most Unique Pit Pitmaker Best Team Skit Cooked on a Pitmaker Cleanest Team Area Floyd Morrow & Larkin Go Texan Recycling Austin County Recycling Blowin? Smoke Dutch Oven Dessert Contest Hoot County Saloon 2 Craig Sharry, from the Overall Grand Champion team, Texas Pepper Jelly, said, ?This is the most recognized barbecue cookoff, and I feel very blessed to have won.? The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Section 501(c)(3) charity that benefits youth, supports education, and facilitates better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation.
