I Could Smell the Roses

Ohhh Hawkeyes…you put up a good fight.

After the baby shower, we all hunkered down to watch our boys take on Ohio State in the football game that would determine which of the two teams would be heading to the 2010 Rose Bowl.

There were ups!

There were downs :(

There was a freshman quarterback who almost took us all the way there. Alas, it just wasn’t in the cards this year. Ohio State beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 27-24 in overtime. Iowa put up an incredible fight in what was supposed to be a complete blow out – and we couldn’t be prouder. GO HAWKS!

Among the shouting, praying and general pleading – there was Chili!

My Dad’s homemade chili, to be exact! He’s a "throw everything but the kitchen sink in the pot" kind of chili maker – and it was gooooood. Two cups worth good!

My Mom made some cornbread for a sidekick…something that I wish we could have blocked during overtime at the Iowa game…but I digress. ;)

I also had some leftover fruit from the baby shower…

A couple more spoonfuls of that dip might have made their way into my bowl after this picture. ;) Ok, they did. This dip is like cotton candy!

The University of Miami (Ben’s team) didn’t fare so well either…

Oy vey! He’s currently "cooling off" outside for a couple of minutes. ;) Do you get this worked up about any sports teams?

The rest of the evening may involve some sulking and me going back home at some point – I’ve been at my parent’s house since 8:15 this morning!

See you in the morning – we’ve got another very special family day tomorrow!
