Idli Uppma
Idli Uppma
When u have left over idlis which is a pretty commom sight in a tamilian kitchen, there is always have the easy option out...idli uppma. During my school days, I used to run away at the sight of idlis or anything remotely resembling idlis because it was made so very often. My mom is a doctor and was having a busy work schedule... I was so foolish that I used to think what can be hard about cooking. I was so wrong. Only now I know what needs to be done in the kitchen if u want a tasty dish on the plate esp for kids who can be fussy. This is very easy to make and you can make it rich by adding ghee and cashews. What you need: Left over Idlis [made in the morning or the previous day] : 5-6. Onions [chopped]: 1 large Green chillies:2 Curry leaves: 1 sprig. Tumeric powder: 1/2 tsp. Salt: to taste. Mustard seeds: 1/2 tsp. Channa dhal: 1 tsp. Oil: 1 tbsp. Coriander leaves: 1 tbsp. Lime juice: 1 tbsp 1.Break the idlis into smaller pieces and crumbs. Please do mash them into a mess. 2.Heat oil in a kadai. Splutter mustard, channa dhal and curry leaves. 3.Add the chopped onions and green chillies and saute until translucent. 4.Add tumeric powder, salt and the idli crumbs. Mix well. 5.When everything is nicely mixed and heated through, drizzle with lime juice and garnish with coriander leaves and serve. It is good on its own but my choice is tomato ketchup along with the idli uppma ..... Enjoy. Scribbled by Reva. related searches : Idli
