Indiana Jones & a punk rocker
I?m sad Halloween is over.
Now it is November and we are quickly approaching the cold, dark, depressing days of winter. Although, cold weather is difficult to imagine as it is still frequently reaching 80 degrees here in SC.
But let?s forget about November right now and relive October 31st.
Despite several trips to Halloween costume shops, Stephen and I both decided to go the build-your-own costume route. I seriously considered the Crazy Cat Lady costume, but felt it defeated the concept of Halloween to dress in my every day attire.
So I went with something that is a stretch from my current self– a punk rocker. I can play the piano, and I did serve a brief stint in the Western Middle School band as a clarinetist (2nd chair, folks!), but I have no talent when it comes to playing instruments of the non-geek variety.
Fooled you, didn?t I? I know the Rock Band guitar is really convincing?
Turns out, creating your own costume is not necessarily a budget-saver. I am certain I spent about the same amount of money on this DIY costume as I did on my previous Hogwart?s school girl costume. I already owned the Vans, tank, belt, jeggings, guitar, and necklace, but the other accessories were so expensive! Who knew fake sleeves made of panty hose material would cost $25? Note: the spray on hair color turns hair into straw. Next time I?ll just buy one of those fake hair clips.
Stephen chose to be Indiana Jones for the 4th year in a row. I wish I had a better picture that showcases Indiana?s ?artifact bag.?
Stephen makes a good Indiana Jones, in my opinion. Indiana and his punk rocker chick
Link wasn?t a fan of his pumpkin costume. It was difficult to get a picture since he was squirming so much. Poor guy! We only made him wear the hat long enough for his picture to be taken.
Stephen and I went to a Halloween party hosted by Elizabeth and her husband Jay. Elizabeth was the green Absinthe fairy.
She slaved all day creating the most awesome spread of Halloween goodies. Elizabeth explained each appetizer as a Halloween themed part of the body. I can?t remember them all, but the mozzarella balls were ?cat eyes.? I think the wings were livers? And the tortilla crackers were pieces of skin. The tomatoes were kidneys. I think the sweet potato chips were skin too. The Boo Berry and Count Chocula treats were brains. Mmmmm. Yummy brains! And I have no clue what the chocolate covered apricots were. All I know is that I ate a whole lot of them!
Elizabeth was an amazing hostess, and we had an awesome time at the party. The majority of the group went downtown around 11:00 p.m., but Stephen and I pooped out and decided it was time for sleep. I?m so old these days.
*** New topic:
Maria tagged me in a little survey game that goes like this, ?Basically 8 questions are asked by a blogger to seven other bloggers, who then ask 8 different/new questions to seven new bloggers.? Here are Maria?s questions for me:
1. What would you want your last meal to be? Shrimp red curry from Basil in downtown Charleston
2. You can only do one form of exercise for the rest of your life (OH NOES!), which one do you choose? Body Attack. Running would be a close second.
3. What TV show are you currently addicted to? Oh there are so many. Dexter is probably my all time fave. I used to love LOST, but the ending put a sour taste in my mouth in regards to that series. And oh yea! Make it or Break It!
4. Is there an ingredient you can?t cook without? Himalayan sea salt. I put it on everything.
5. What is your all-time favorite dessert? Tart frozen yogurt or Jokerz bars
6. You arrive at a beach, only to realize it?s a nude beach. Do you bear all and stay or go home? I?m not a huge fan of the beach. This would probably be a good excuse for me to go home!
7. Are you a bigger fan of cats or dogs? Cats <—Is anyone surprised by this answer?
8. If you could do one job for the rest of your life, never having to worry about money, what would that job be? Haha, I do keep telling Stephen it would be fun to work at Teavana.
Now, I tag:
Here are my questions: 1) What was/is the name of your first pet? 2) What is your favorite form of exercise? 3) Why did you start blogging? 4) What?s your favorite store to shop for clothes? 5) Favorite grocery store? 6) What is your current profession? 7) Favorite kind of muffin?
