Jillian Michaels? Yoga Meltdown Review

By Meals and Miles (Visit website)

The other week I was the lucky winner of Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown thanks to a giveaway Bobbi was hosting on her blog N Her Shoes.

The Yoga Meltdown DVD contains two 30 minute yoga workouts. In typical Jillian fashion each work out consists of 3 circuit sessions that are divided by a couple of sun salutations.

This is NOT your typical yoga DVD. Jillian is tough! Throughout the work out she really focuses on holding ‘power poses’ for 15 – 30 seconds at a time and putting her own twist on common poses. She also loves a good chaturanga push up! There was a whole series of push ups thrown in that had me dropping to my knees.

Do I believe this DVD can help you lose up to 5 pounds in a week? No way! I didn’t even break a sweat!

I would say this DVD would make a great supplement to any work out, but on its own it is just ok. Nothing was too challenging (besides the push ups) and the 30 segments were a bit too short for my taste.

I think for all my yoga needs I will be sticking to my hot yoga classes and let Jillian stick to what she’s good at – the 30 day shred. ;)

I completed level 1 of the Yoga Meltdown DVD after work, but before then I had some mixed nuts as my snack.

Do you ever have those weeks where you swore you purchased the whole grocery store only to realize you bought practically nothing? Yep, that’s me this week.

I bought a full cart of groceries on Monday and somehow my fridge is now empty. It’s just me – where did all the food go?!?!

With nothing to eat in the fridge I headed to the freezer for dinner and discovered some salmon burgers I had purchased from Costco forever ago. I knew the salmon would make the perfect salad topper for what vegetables I did have in the fridge.

The veggies underneath the salmon burger included arugula, radishes, onion, broccoli, mushrooms and tomato. All the veggies were seasoned with some oregano and sauteed on the stove top for five minutes.

An apricot dressing and sprinkle of un-sweetened granola & goat cheese finished the dish.

I prefer hot salads to cold salads. I also prefer hot sandwiches to cold sandwiches. I think I just like hot meals in general. :)

For dessert I had the last 1/3 of my chocolate bar and a coffee flavored salt water taffy.

How cute are my parents?

(obviously I get my flair for crazy typos from my Dad ;) )

Heading to bed now!

Is tomorrow really Friday?!?! Woo hoo!!
