July Fourth Favorites

Can you believe it's July already? I can't believe how the time flies, and I can't believe this blog has been around for half a year already! Around this time last year, I was stressed and excited and hopeful for my upcoming wedding, but this year, it's all about kicking back, relaxing and looking forward to finishing out the next six months of 2010 with a bang.

To celebrate the Fourth this Sunday, Mark and I are heading over to our good friends' place in Redondo Beach, California, where they have a spectacular view of the ocean and we can see three fireworks displays at once! We love cooking for them, and they enjoy cooking for us, so it's always a tasty and fun time when we get together... And, er, maybe we always leave their place with a plan to move next door.

However you spend your Independence Day, I hope you're surrounded by treasured friends or family, lots of laughter, and good food and drinks. If you're hosting a party and are still stumped on the menu, or if you're bringing something to the table, here are a few ideas to kick off your Fourth with some firework-worthy drinks, appetizers, main courses and desserts...
