Kadala paruppu payasam and Idly/Dosa Podi..!

Here's two dishes for you.. Kadalai paruppu payasam and idly/dosa Podi..! Enjoy!

1. Kadalai paruppu payasam:

Usually we make payasam with vermicelli, javvarisi or paasi paruppu(moong dal), now i tried with kadalai paruppu(Channa dal). Got this idea from Ganga of My Favourite Foods 'Parippu pradhaman' converted some ingredients to simple payasam for my taste. Hubby loved it and said it was exactly like payatham paruppu payasam..! Try and enjoy!!:)



Ingredients:
1. kadalai paruppu/Channa dal - 1 cup,
2. Milk - 1/2 cup,
3. Jaggery - 1/2 cup crushed,
4. Salt - a pinch,
5. Cardomom powder - 1 tsp,
6. Cashews - 8 ghee roasted,
7. Ghee - 5 tsp.



How to make this?

1. Pressure cook the dhal after soaking for 10mins with 1/4 cup milk,water and salt. Cool and mash them well.
2. Heat 2 tsp ghee in kadai, pour in the dhal mixture, jaggery and remaining milk and stir well from bottom in medium flame.
3. When the payasam becomes thick consistency adjust taste and add the cardomom and roasted cashews and give a stir.
4. Pour 2 tsp ghee before serving..!

Yummy delicious easy payasam ready in minutes..! enjoy!:)

2. Idly/Dosa Podi:

I like idli podi, any one coming from india will bring in bottles. I thoought, y can't i try?! It came out well.. Try out!



Ingredients:

1. Urad dal - 1 cup,
2. Rice - 1/2 cup,
3. Red dry chillies - 6,
4. Pepper - 2 tsp,
5. Cumin seeds/jeera - 1 tsp,
6. Sesame seeds - 1 tsp,
7. Asefeotida - 3 tsp,
8. Salt - as needed,
9. Oil - 3 tsp,
10. Curry leaves - 1 string.




How to make this?


1. Heat oil in kadai and fry seperately each the dhals, chilly, pepper, cumin, sesame seeds and asefeotida, curry leaves and let it cool.
2. Put all in a blender/spice grinder with salt and grind in to a fine/coarse powder.

Delicious podi is ready. Tastes great with ghee, gingerly oil for idli and dosas..!:)
