By CREATIVE SANYUKTA (Visit website)

Some Health Benefits and facts about the Delicous and Helathy Fruit KIWI-
Kiwi fruit contains great nutritional value, they are substantially richer in vitamin C than oranges and contain more fiber than apple. They're very rich in potassium, which is important for the prevention of high blood pressure. When kiwi juice is mix with water and vodka it can be use as astringent to help tighten and tone the skin. Kiwi is also valuable food for people with poor digestion, thanks to their high-fiber content and their unique mucilage, they make a gentle and effective laxative.
Kiwi fruits got their name from a bird that is native to New Zealand. This fruit consists of a hairy, brown peel containing green flesh, with white pulp in the center, surrounded by black, edible seeds.
The Kiwi symbol began to be recognised internationally in 1906 when Kiwi Shoe Polish was launched in Melbourne by a man with a New Zealand born wife. The polish was widely marketed in Britain and the USA during World War I and later. By 1908, kiwis were appearing in numerous sporting, political, and other newspaper cartoons.
During the First World War, New Zealanders carved a giant kiwi on the chalk hill above Sling Camp in England. In Flanders during the war, the name ?Kiwi? for New Zealand soldiers came into general use. By the Second World War, the Kiwi was synonymous with New Zealand Servicemen overseas.
Today, New Zealanders overseas (and at home) are still invariably called ?Kiwis?. The Kiwi is still closely associated with the Armed Forces. The New Zealand dollar is often referred to as the ?The Kiwi? and the kiwi fruit is known as a ?Kiwi? in some countries. Kiwis feature in the coat of arms, crests and badges of many New Zealand cities, clubs and organisations.

I always make fruit/veggie chutneys like strawberry/apple/pear/peach/pineapple/zucchini/tomato/beet boiling them with spices/brown sugar or dates or jaggery and tempering them with lentils, curry leaves and mustard.
Last friday i made some Schezwan veggie fried rice(recipe coming soon) with tofu tikkas and wanted sumthing to go with my tofu tikkas as a topping But didnt had time to wait til the chutney simmers and cools as everything was hot and ready to eat and just before we dig in  i thought of an easy to make  under 5mins chutney and hola...Kiwi chutney was invented.........

U need-
3 large kiwis, peeled, cubed
1/2 cup (packed) washed and chopped fresh cilantro
Raisins-2 tblsp(soaked in hot water for 5mins).drain water and use
2 tblsp toasted cashew nuts
2-3 tblsp canned unsweetened coconut milk..for creaminess, can substitute with greek yoghurt
1 garlic clove, peeled
pinch of roasted cumin powder  and pinch of paprika
seasoning-salt/pepper as per taste

Method-
Puree/blend all in a blender/mixer. Season chutney with salt,pepper.
goes well with Paneer/Tofu Tikkas/Chicken Tandoori/Fish pattys/Tofu stirfry/Roasted Veggies/In Burgers or as a spread in sandwiches.

Notes-
1)can add walnuts/pinenuts/peanuts instead of cashews.
2)can add green chilly/jalepeno/red chilly flakes instead of paprika
3)ginger also goes well with this chutney, add pinch of ginger powder.
4)sweetness-can use soaked dates instead of raisins or simply add regular or brown sugar(1 tsp)
5)can use 1 tblsp dessicated dry coconut instead of coconut milk or simply use yoghurt.
6)If using as a topping on fish/chicken /roasted veggies/cottage cheese tikkas/tofu make a little coarse paste in the food processor.can add olive oil while pulsing.
