La rentrée

Posted the05/01/2010 By The Paris Food Blague (Visit website)

This week is the rentrée, in more than one sense. Antonin is back at school, teaching the kiddies and I am heading back to America, to visit my family for a month.

I still plan to blog, however ! In America, the land of opportunities, I will have access to an oven ! I?m especially eager to try a galette des rois (tomorrow is January 6 !) so come back ! We can still have fun !

To prepare myself for my trip I tried to make a list of food things I miss about America :

Bagels. Duh.
Almond butter (Jean Hervé makes some pretty good nut butters which can be bought at Naturalia, but they aren?t quite like American ones)
Food in bulk (Much more rare in France than in the USA. It?s so much cheaper?and more fun?to buy your beans and grains in bulk)
Kale (this may be the only category in which the ricains win the vegetable game)

I won?t make a list of French food stuff I will miss while in America. Because that?s just not a fair fight.

Before I bid you adieu, let me offer you some French culinary gifts (frantically bought for friends & family earlier this morning?no need to worry about spoiling the surprise, this is a super secret blog).

See you stateside!
